The name is perfect- the hotel is as peaceful as a temple. The staff, Lilly was our greeter, was outstanding!! Friendly, accommodating, helpful. All knew our 5 year old grandson’s... read more name the first day! The restaurant packed up breakfast for four as we left for a 5:00 am sunrise at Angkor Wat. And treat yourself to a message and swim in the salt-water pool. We didn’t want to leave.
The Golden Temple Residence has a staff full of some of the friendliest people we’ve ever met, all of whom went above and beyond to make our stay extra special.... read more They pay attention to each detail, welcoming you to the residence with lemon tea and a snack spread and always greeting you with refreshing towels after an excursion. I would like to especially thank Mesa and ‘Alice in Wonderland’ for making our time in Cambodia so special. We personally were celebrating birthdays, so the staff surprised us with a beautiful personalized rose petal display on the bed and balloons everywhere. They also brought up personalized cake and fruit platters, singing happy birthday and letting you blow out the candles—the whole shebang. The staff are also so willing to share their culture. The residence offers a nightly performance of traditional Khmer dance, and they leave out a little pamphlet to help you follow along as to what each act means and its significance. The staff taught us a few phrases in Khmer, too! As for the facilities, the hotel is beautiful. Our room was spacious and cleaned constantly. The pool (and swim-up bar) are great, especially after a day out in the Cambodian sun. We dined at the hotel’s restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all of which were delicious. You definitely will have plenty to eat during your stay here! The restaurant staff are very friendly and attentive. We especially recommend having dinner there like we did; you get a great view overlooking the pool and the nightly dance performance. We also highly recommend taking advantage of the experiences that the Golden Temple Residence offers: the tour of Angkor Wat/Angkor Thom and the spa. Our tour guide, Mr Ritten, was super personable and helpful in shedding light on Cambodian culture and history as we perused the temples. His experience definitely shows. He got us “front-row seats” for viewing the sunrise at Angkor Wat at the best location, too. As for the spa, the masseuses were great; you get everything detailed in your massage description and then some. We recommend the foot massage, Khmer traditional body massage, and bamboo massage. They were perfect for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. All of this to say—we could not speak more highly of the Golden Temple Residence! If you travel to Siem Reap, you should definitely stay here.
